This month we highlight Fashion Studies student - Wendi G. Wendi is one of Julie Ann's Illustration student's and as you can see, has a very whimsical and colorful style. Here is a little more about Wendi in her own words:
Where do you live? Right down the street from the sewing room in Jingletown (Oakland).
What is/was your current/past career path? I run my own children's entertainment company (PowerUpParties.com) and perform/teach clown for adults (WindyWynazz.com).
When did you start drawing and how long have you been illustrating fashion? I have been drawing since I was quite young. For as long as I could remember I have always loved drawing women's fashion figures and particularly faces and eyes.
What are your interests outside of fashion illustration? I love theatre, clown, vintage shopping, and cats.
Why did you want to learn how to illustrate fashion? I wanted to have the choice to make more realistic looking figures if I wanted. I also wanted to have the structure of a class to keep creating illustrations.
What is your favorite part about illustrating (design, rendering, figure drawing etc..)? I love when I add the face (particularly the eyes) at the end and the whole image comes alive.
What are your #illustrationgoals and/or ambitions? I want to write and illustrate picture books for adults! A concept I've had for a while that I want to start creating art for is "Are You My Baby Daddy?". A 30-somethings adventure in dating in the Bay Area.
Wendi, I love this! Thank you so much for sharing this month!!!
Wendi has been such an amazing student under the tutelage of Julie Ann Brown our Fashion Illustration and Fashion Design instructor. We still have a few spaces left in our Summer 2023 Fashion Studies classes for Session 2 running, July 19th - August 16th.
Until Next Time, Happy Fashion!
